       Understanding the Dressmaking Process

The consultation is a time for you to get to know us and discuss your needs and our services. The forthcoming event should be pleasant, enjoyable and as stress-free as possible for both our staff and you, our client. This is accomplished, in part, by clear and concise communication between each party. You are ordering a (one-of-a-kind) garment and it will receive our full attention. This is a team product and must be recognized as such.

At the time of the order, our designer will estimate the cost of the (materials) labor, notions, etc. Client agrees to pay Maplewood Bridal a specified deposit. The client will understand that the garment will not be released without full payment. Additionally, it will be understood changes in fabric and/or design may add to the price. Work shall be considered completed upon approval by the client.

CANCELLATION: If the client before completion of work cancels the order, client is liable for cost of fabric and supplies purchased specifically for this garment, and labor to date of cancellation, to be billed at $50.00 per hour.

Most custom clothiers do two or three fittings as the garment is constructed.

Three to eight weeks to complete a garment is minimum. This will vary with the complexity of the garments and the time of year. Like all custom-made goods, custom clothing should cost more than a similar off-the-rack garment. It takes a very high level of skill and a great deal of labor to create a unique garment that fits your body and your taste. Moreover, as custom clothiers, we use much finer sewing techniques than seen in ready-to-wear.

Tell us your price range; we can suggest styles and techniques that are within your budget.

Any request for design alterations must be made at the first fitting. Requests thereafter will incur a fess. All sales are final.

    Terms and Conditions

Prices are base prices for Labor Only and do not include any added design features, i.e. Pockets, decorative stitching, pleats, etc. Prices do not include fabric or related notions. Prices are subject to change without notice.

A 50% deposit is required to begin any custom clothing work. A second payment of 25% is required at the first fitting. Checks will be accepted for deposits only. Returned checks will incur a $30.00 fee.

Remember that fine quality custom clothing is made to last for many years, and is truly "investment dressing."

    What are your responsibilities?

  • Select fine quality fabrics.
  • Be on time for your appointments; Missed appointments will add one week to delivery schedule and incur a $15.00 fee unless a 24-hour notification is made. Call early if you need to reschedule.
